Job Summary:

Join the Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) as the Practicum and Careers Services Principal Professional. This position is a key member of the school's Office of Practice-Based Learning (PBL) and Office of Academic & Student Affairs (OASA) and will assist in the development and coordination of high-quality PBL and career services opportunities for ColoradoSPH students.

The individual in this position will be responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas, including academic, administrative, managerial, and student services functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and resources for student PBL opportunities; post and maintain PBL and career listings in Handshake.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with individual faculty and academic advisors to improve practicum and capstone advising resources; initiate and coordinate all student training affiliation agreements between host sites and the university for all partner campuses.
  • Help coordinate and execute PBL and career services networking opportunities as part of ColoradoSPH events, as well as develop new strategic events.
  • Prepare, coach, and advise students regarding all phases of practicum preparation (e.g. refer students to appropriate opportunities, facilitate onboarding, view proposals to ensure accreditation competencies are being met).
  • Lead the PBL data analysis and evaluation efforts (e.g. coordinate practicum and capstone evaluation processes for faculty, employers, and students; prepare PBL statistics and assessments; lead survey evaluation efforts for faculty, preceptor, and student assessment of practicum and capstone experiences).
  • Engage in preceptor outreach to potential employers and PBL host sites, including companies and community organizations.
  • Promote professional development resources and opportunities across appropriate channels (e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Newsletters, Handshake).

This is a full-time position and reports to the Faculty Director of Practice-Based Learning and Associate Dean of Academic & Student Affairs.

Work Location:

Hybrid - This position is located on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO and is eligible to work a hybrid schedule with at least two days of the week that can be worked from home.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of professional level experience.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public health.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience in the public health field and/or teaching.
  • Experience with and commitment to working with a diverse student population.
  • Experience working with community organizations on practicum, internship, and other educational placements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of higher education recruitment, admissions, administration.
  • Technical skill and knowledge to work with student information systems and databases.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting target salary for this position has been established as $56,000 - $70,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
