Purpose is to assist the Nature Center Director and Assistant Director in coordinating functions, updating displays, and creating a positive guest experience to ensure efficient operation of
Majestic View Nature Center.
** This is a non-benefited, variable-hour position (no more than 30 hours a week)
** Must be able to work Saturdays', if needed.
1. Oversee center operations during public hours as an interpretive ambassador to
provide an enjoyable visitor experience.
2. Assess engagement with current displays and assist in projects to update displays
and exhibits.
3. Monitor and maintains safety, security and cleanliness of center and surrounding
site, bringing issues to the attention of the Director or appropriate City staff.
4. Coordinate and assist classroom and building preparation, which may entail
custodial and maintenance duties.
5. Assist with animal husbandry for animal ambassadors (snake/turtles), such as
changing tank water, feeding or creating enrichment.
6. Assist in marketing meetings, event planning, subbing in for camps, leading other
programs, and various other all-staff projects.
7. Assist in recruiting, training and scheduling of volunteers, including but limited to
delivering flyers and/or attending event booths.
8. Coordinate with appropriate City personnel and other agencies to accomplish
center goals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Possess and be able to share working knowledge of environmental interpretation.
2. Excellent communication and customer service skills must be shared with
visitors, co-sponsors, volunteers and staff members.
3. Ability to effectively coach and train people of various volunteer ages, including
teens.
4. Initiative to recognize, recommend and manage projects or programs that meet the
Nature Center's mission.
5. Ability to produce copy for promotional or educational materials.
6. Ability to independently perform manual duties associated with the programs and
facility: arranging tables, chairs and equipment, leading outdoor activities,
refilling fountain, etc.
7. Must be able to work hours as assigned, which includes periodic Saturdays.
Supervision Received:
Works under the direct supervision of the Nature Center Director.
Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor's degree in a field related to education, environmental science,
recreation, or leadership. A combination of education and experience could be considered.
Experience working or volunteering in a leadership role with youth and adults is preferred.

9:00 AM - 3:30 PM: Work (6 hours)
Friday:
9:00 AM - 3:30 PM: Work (6 hours)
Saturday:
9:30 AM - 3:30 PM: Work (5.5 hours)
