Position Summary: The Operating Room Nurse Senior provides patient care in a surgical setting in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Monitors and manages the patient and operative environment during surgery to maintain a safe environment, optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Provides direct guidance and oversight of new graduate nurses and newly hired team members in all patient care and clinical activities and ensures that behaviors adhere to documentation standards, standards of excellence and all other policies and procedures.

Hourly Range: $40.26 to $60.39 per hour

Eligible Incentives:

  • Up to $4,400 in relocation benefits (100 mi. or greater) for qualifying positions

Hours per week: 40

Shift: Days with some nights and weekends and on-call responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Experience: Four (4) years perioperative nursing experience
  • Equivalency: Applicants with an Associate's Degree in Nursing who agree to obtain a Bachelor of Science (BSN) within 3 years from their start date may be considered.
  • Certification(s): BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire. CNOR within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure(s): Current State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

UNIT DESCRIPTION

  • Operating Room at the Anschutz Campus in Aurora is a 14 OR unit that treats children and adolescents for any level of injury or illness. The unit supports 24 different surgical specialties and performs more than 23,000 cases a year. We are a unique, yet impressive team comprised of nurses, certified surgical technicians, anesthesia technicians, anesthesia providers, and surgeons. We perform a wide variety of surgical procedures including abdominal and thoracic surgery, bariatric surgery, cleft, craniofacial, and plastic reconstructive surgery, colorectal surgery, cardiac surgery, ENT surgery, fetal surgery, burn treatment, trauma surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology surgery, gynecologic procedures, transplant surgery, and urology surgery. Our OR nurses and surgical technologists receive extensive training and education in all surgical specialties promoting communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. We promote continued education and encourage staff to pursue specialty certifications.
